Grab Malaysia, Southeast Asia’s leading superapp, has joined forces with Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) to make a meaningful impact on the local community by donating 500 children’s books. This initiative is part of Grab Malaysia’s Outer Cities Offsite 2024, a corporate incentive retreat hosted in Sarawak for the first time. The Outer Cities Offsite 2024 brought together 70 Grab employees from across Malaysia, providing an opportunity to strengthen relationships and encourage collaboration among team members, many of whom typically communicate virtually. The retreat featured various team-building activities, including a pickleball workshop and a friendly match, fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. It also included an exciting Kuching City Exploration, where participants had the chance to explore the city’s renowned attractions and heritage trails. Aligned with Grab Malaysia’s commitment to community empowerment, the book donation supports Books Build Legacy, a corporate social responsibility initiative spearheaded by BESarawak. The programme aims to bridge the gap between corporate organizations and marginalized communities, enhancing the quality of life and access to resources for local children. Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, emphasized the significance of such partnerships: “Books Build Legacy has become a powerful programme to connect corporate organisations with local communities, especially those in need. The smallest actions often lead to larger impacts, and we are thrilled to see Grab Malaysia supporting this initiative. It is our hope that this collaboration will inspire more business event planners to take part in making a positive change.” Books Build Legacy is part of a broader effort within the business events industry to contribute to positive social impact through corporate meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions. By ensuring that business events also benefit local communities, the initiative aims to create a lasting legacy for future generations. Through this collaboration, Grab Malaysia not only enhances team bonding and collaboration but also demonstrates its dedication to empowering local communities and supporting initiatives that benefit future generations.
