Sunway Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) and Institut Sukan Negara (ISN) have formalised a strategic collaboration through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance healthcare support for athletes and sports professionals. This partnership aims to deliver more integrated, specialised and efficient medical care, covering everything from treatment to recovery.
The agreement highlights a shared commitment to supporting ISN athletes and staff across a wide range of medical needs, particularly in areas such as surgery, rehabilitation, post-operative care and safe return to sport. It also establishes closer collaboration between SMCV specialists and ISN’s sports science and medical teams through coordinated referrals and ongoing knowledge exchange.
The partnership is designed to provide a more comprehensive and streamlined healthcare journey, ensuring athletes receive timely and appropriate care. Services available include outpatient and inpatient treatments, diagnostic imaging like MRI, CT scans and X-rays, orthopaedic care for injuries and joint conditions, as well as dermatology support for sports-related skin issues.
To improve accessibility, both institutions will implement a structured referral system, allowing athletes and staff to benefit from combined expertise and facilities. The collaboration also places strong emphasis on tailored treatment plans and evidence-based recovery protocols to help athletes return to competition safely and at optimal performance levels.
Beyond clinical care, the MoU encourages continuous sharing of medical expertise and best practices between SMCV and ISN. This initiative aims to elevate treatment quality, improve recovery outcomes and strengthen Malaysia’s overall sports healthcare ecosystem, supporting athletes not just in recovery, but in long-term performance and well-being.
