Many students in the region face difficulties due to a lack of crucial learning materials. While there have been ongoing efforts to repair and improve the facilities, the library continues to fall short in meeting the needs of the large student body. The donation made today will significantly address this issue, providing 1,512 students with greater access to a diverse range of novels, educational books, and activity guides that will support both their academic progress and personal development.
This donation is part of the Books Build Legacy initiative, launched by BESarawak. The event was organized in collaboration with the Dayak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) and the Kadazandusun Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), both of which adopted the initiative to enhance the event’s positive impact on the community.
Hon. Datuk Snowdan Lawan, Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts of Sarawak and Member of Parliament for N30, commented: “Education has the power to change lives. Even in an era dominated by digital technology, books are still essential for empowering young people to succeed both academically and in life. The Balai Ringin community is deeply thankful for the generosity of DCCI, KCCI, BESarawak, and everyone who participated in this effort. Thank you for uniting for such a worthwhile cause.”
Dato Allan Keripin Nangkai, President of DCCI, shared: “Our original target was to collect 1,000 books, but in just two days, we exceeded that goal, gathering 2,000 books. The overwhelming support from the local community and event participants highlights the unity and collective spirit that emerge when we work together toward a shared objective. DCCI remains dedicated to promoting socio-economic progress within the Dayak communities through business initiatives and other available opportunities.”

The 15th Joint DCCI-KCCI Gawai-Kaamatan Celebration not only fostered cultural unity between Sarawak and Sabah but also highlighted the organizers’ commitment to supporting and empowering indigenous communities.
