The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) is set to host the second edition of the MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair (MFTF) 2026 on 4 and 5 July 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL), bringing together industry players and travel enthusiasts under one roof to explore the growing world of Muslim-friendly tourism. Building on the success of its inaugural edition, this year’s fair will feature 123 exhibitors representing 57 participating organisations across a 2,700-square-metre exhibition space. The expanded showcase reflects the increasing demand for Muslim-friendly travel products and services, as more travellers seek destinations and experiences that align with Islamic values while offering convenience, comfort and peace of mind. Muslim-friendly tourism continues to emerge as one of the fastest-growing segments in the global travel industry. From access to halal-certified food and prayer facilities to family-oriented environments and modest lifestyle offerings, the sector has gained traction among travellers looking for more inclusive and reliable travel experiences. Through MFTF 2026, MATTA aims to strengthen this niche market by providing a dedicated platform for members to promote destinations and packages tailored to Muslim travellers. Deputy Organising Chairman of MFTF 2026, Dr. Fazil Khan, highlighted the importance of establishing consistent industry standards to maintain consumer confidence. He noted that while demand for Muslim-friendly travel continues to increase in both inbound and outbound markets, inconsistencies in verification processes and operational standards remain a key challenge for the industry. According to Dr. Fazil, the absence of clear benchmarks can create uncertainty among consumers and place compliant operators at a disadvantage. He stressed that trust within the Muslim-friendly travel ecosystem can only be strengthened through effective regulation, education and collective industry responsibility. MATTA, he said, has worked to create a strong platform that helps consumers identify licensed and verified operators while encouraging higher service standards across the sector. Beyond promoting travel packages, MFTF 2026 also serves as a catalyst for greater collaboration and alignment within the tourism industry. The event reinforces Malaysia’s standing as a global leader in Muslim-friendly tourism while encouraging continuous innovation and improvement to meet evolving international expectations. Importantly, MATTA emphasises that Muslim-friendly travel extends beyond halal tourism. It represents a modest and inclusive lifestyle approach that can be appreciated by travellers of all ages, backgrounds, races and religions, making it accessible to a wider audience seeking meaningful and responsible travel experiences. The success of MFTF 2026 is supported by several key industry partners and sponsors. The Islamic Tourism Centre serves as the Strategic Partner, while the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) joins as a sponsor. RHB Bank Berhad returns as the Exclusive Platinum Sponsor, further strengthening the event’s industry support. The MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair 2026 will be open to the public from 10.00am to 9.00pm on both days. Visitors are encouraged to utilise public transportation as part of efforts to reduce carbon emissions and support sustainable travel practices, although on-site parking facilities will also be available. Travel enthusiasts can stay updated on the latest announcements and promotions through MFTF’s official social media channels on Instagram, X and TikTok (@matta_mftf), as well as the MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair Facebook page.
