The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has officially launched the second edition of the MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair (MFTF 2026) at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTC KL), marking its biggest edition to date. Held in conjunction with Malaysia’s growing prominence as a global halal tourism leader, the fair serves as a dedicated platform connecting travellers with Muslim-friendly travel products, exclusive holiday packages and industry players under one roof.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia, YB Dato Sri Tiong King Sing, following Malaysia’s achievement of retaining the number one position in the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2026 for the 11th consecutive year. The recognition highlights the country’s continued leadership in providing a world-class halal tourism ecosystem while reinforcing its position as a preferred destination for Muslim travellers worldwide.

Spanning 2,700 square metres of exhibition space, MFTF 2026 features 122 booths from 57 participating organisations, making it the Association’s largest dedicated marketplace for Muslim-friendly tourism. Visitors can explore a comprehensive range of travel packages, halal-friendly destinations, accommodation, tourism services and travel-related products, all tailored to meet the evolving needs of modern Muslim travellers who increasingly seek convenience, comfort and authentic cultural experiences.

According to Dr. Fazil Khan, Deputy Chairman of the MATTA Muslim Friendly Travel Fair, the event was created to provide MATTA members with a practical platform to expand their businesses while meeting the rising demand for Muslim-friendly travel. As package tours continue to dominate the halal tourism market, MFTF offers travel agencies the opportunity to connect directly with consumers actively searching for curated travel experiences that accommodate halal dining, prayer facilities and family-friendly itineraries.

Adding further excitement to this year’s edition is the introduction of the Buyers’ Contest, where visitors who spend a minimum of RM100 at the fair stand a chance to win attractive prizes. The initiative encourages greater engagement with exhibitors while allowing travellers to enjoy exclusive promotions and value-added deals available only during the event.

A major highlight of the opening ceremony was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MATTA and the Islamic Tourism Centre (ITC), strengthening collaboration to further develop Malaysia’s Muslim-Friendly Tourism and Hospitality ecosystem. Under the partnership, approximately 1,000 MATTA members are expected to undergo specialised training over the next two years, supporting the nation’s ambition of welcoming 15 million international Muslim visitors by 2030.

MFTF 2026 is also supported by key partners including the Islamic Tourism Centre as Strategic Partner, RHB Bank Berhad as Official Bank Partner and the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) as Sponsor. Together, these collaborations reinforce Malaysia’s commitment to expanding Muslim-friendly tourism while supporting the goals of the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign, which aims to attract 47 million international visitors and generate RM329 billion in tourism receipts.

Open to the public from 10.00am to 9.00pm on 4 and 5 July 2026 at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur, MFTF 2026 offers travellers the opportunity to discover exclusive travel promotions, connect with leading tourism operators and explore the latest Muslim-friendly travel experiences from Malaysia and beyond.
