Kuala Lumpur Tower has unveiled its new official mascot, Kay Elle, and is calling on Malaysians to join the “Befriend Kay Elle” Mascot Design Contest to create her companions. The competition gives participants the chance to design a character that will become part of the tower’s official image and appear in merchandise for years to come.
Contestants need to design a cheerful and friendly character to be part of Kay Elle’s “Friend Pack,” accompanied by a short write-up that explains the character’s traits, story, and connection to Kay Elle’s world. The contest is open to all Malaysians, with the final submission date set for August 30, 2025, and entries must be submitted through a Google Form.
The champion will win RM2,000 in cash, a one-year Kuala Lumpur Tower pass, have their mascot turned into official merchandise, and receive a special merchandise set that includes the mascot pack.
Kay Elle takes her name from the familiar abbreviation “KL” for Kuala Lumpur, making her easy to recognise both locally and abroad. First introduced on August 5, 2025, she is portrayed as warm, inviting, adventurous, and proud of Malaysia’s culture. She reflects the nation’s hospitality, heritage, vibrant diversity, and unity, with a mission to greet guests, share stories about Kuala Lumpur Tower, and promote Malaysia’s spirit to the world.
LSH Service Master Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Khairil Faizal Hj Othman said the contest aims to go beyond simple artwork by creating characters that connect with people emotionally and embody Malaysia’s spirit internationally.
