GDEX Berhad recently celebrated the success of its second Skills Development Program graduation on December 21st, 2024, at M Theatre, Mahsa Avenue. The event recognized the hard work of 66 graduates who completed the Skills Development Program, a major milestone in GDEX’s dedication to fostering human capital and improving employee skill sets. Among the graduates, 20 received the Malaysian Skills Certificate (Sijil Kemahiran Malaysia, SKM), while 46 earned the Malaysian Skills Diploma (Diploma Kemahiran Malaysia, DKM).
In partnership with the Department of Skills Development Malaysia (JPK), GDEX’s Skills Development Program is designed to enhance the technical and professional skills of its employees. The initiative is aligned with Malaysia’s National TVET Policy 2030, which aims to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as a critical component of the nation’s economic growth.
Managing Director/Group CEO of GDEX, Mr. Teong Teck Lean, expressed his pride in the program’s success, stating, “At GDEX, we have always prioritized training and upskilling for our people, as we understand the importance of personal development. GDEX was one of the first in the courier industry to establish a learning academy, and I am proud to witness the efforts of our graduates. We look forward to seeing more employees continue their learning journey.”
The 2024 batch marks significant growth in the program, with the number of graduates increasing from just 10 in 2020 to 66 this year. This surge demonstrates GDEX’s commitment to providing valuable upskilling opportunities for its workforce.
The graduation ceremony was attended by graduates, their families, GDEX management, employees, and distinguished representatives from various government agencies. The event was officiated by Tan Sri Muhammad bin Ibrahim, Chairman of GDEX Berhad, who emphasized the importance of industry-government collaboration in driving skill-based learning and workforce development. With this initiative, GDEX reaffirms its commitment to creating a highly skilled, future-ready workforce.
