Toshiba Marks 95 Years of Innovation with Asia Pacific’s Largest-Capacity Refrigerator

Toshiba Sales & Services Sdn. Bhd. commemorates its 95th anniversary by launching its most groundbreaking innovation yet the NaturePURE Series 820L Refrigerator, now officially recognized by the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest-capacity refrigerator in the Asia Pacific region. This milestone release underscores Toshiba’s unwavering commitment to delivering customer-focused innovation and further cements its status as a leader in home appliances.

According to Managing Director Mr. Steven Yang, Toshiba is eyeing a 25% growth in 2025 compared to the previous year, fueled by an increasing appetite for appliances that blend cutting-edge technology with sophisticated design. The company’s latest expansion into large-scale refrigeration is part of its strategic focus on meeting the evolving needs of modern households, especially those seeking multi-functional, health-conscious, and energy-efficient solutions.

In the first quarter of 2025 alone, Toshiba Malaysia solidified its position as a major player in the home appliances market, ranking second in both refrigerator and washing machine segments with market shares of 16.7% and 13.6% respectively. Its microwave oven category also secured a top-five position. These achievements reflect growing consumer confidence in Toshiba’s ability to provide dependable, lifestyle-enhancing innovations across the board.

Beyond Malaysia, Toshiba continues to expand its market presence across the Asia Pacific region, with Thailand showing robust growth and Japan maintaining its leadership in brand loyalty. This regional success complements Toshiba’s aggressive retail strategy on the home front. Following the debut of its first brand store in Kuala Lumpur in 2024, the company now operates 14 outlets nationwide and plans to open a flagship store alongside 50 Shop-in-Shop (SIS) points by the end of 2025.

At the heart of Toshiba’s latest innovation is the NaturePURE 820L Refrigerator, a pioneering four-door, side-by-side model engineered for large and multi-generational families. Despite its massive internal capacity, the refrigerator’s sleek external design remains compact, thanks to miniaturized components and ultra-thin insulation. It’s designed for optimal organization of a wide variety of items, from fresh produce and baby food to frozen goods and skincare.

The NaturePURE series introduces a host of advanced features including the PureAIR Sterilization System, which removes up to 99.99% of bacteria and 99% of odors for a cleaner and healthier storage environment. The PureAIR Turbo Mode offers triple-speed purification, especially useful for storing traditional or pungent foods. Meanwhile, the Pure ICE 3-Level System ensures crystal-clear, odor-free ice through FDA-certified filtration, while the Magic 2 Sizes Ice Maker produces cubed and half-cubed ice up to 2kg in just 95 minutes. It’s also powered by R290 refrigerant for 30% faster cooling with a reduced environmental footprint.

Looking forward, Toshiba plans to expand its celebrated “Japandi” Series a blend of Japanese precision and Scandinavian design beyond refrigerators to include dishwashers, water purifiers, and more. These upcoming offerings will deliver not only elegant aesthetics but also seamless functionality, continuing Toshiba’s mission of enriching Malaysian households with meaningful innovation. With the NaturePURE 820L Refrigerator, Toshiba sets a new benchmark in refrigeration and reaffirms its promise of innovation that aligns with today’s modern lifestyles.
