BYD Mansion Macalister Penang has earned prestigious recognition at the REKA Awards 2026, winning Gold in the Interior Builders: Medium Projects category for its distinctive interior design that seamlessly blends Malaysian heritage with modern automotive innovation.
Presented by the Malaysian Institute of Interior Designers (MIID), the award was determined by a panel of distinguished industry judges. The recognition celebrates the project’s design excellence, exceptional craftsmanship and contribution to preserving Malaysia’s architectural heritage.
Located within a beautifully restored century-old landmark in George Town, Penang, BYD Mansion Macalister brings together historic architecture and contemporary mobility. The showroom offers a distinctive environment that goes beyond the traditional automotive retail experience, creating a space where heritage and modern design complement one another.
Designed with customer experience at its core, the showroom features dedicated consultation lounges, integrated digital touchpoints and personalised customer spaces. These thoughtful elements provide a comfortable and immersive environment while demonstrating how heritage preservation can be incorporated into modern commercial spaces.
The achievement also recognises the work of Eddex Concept Sdn Bhd in delivering the project’s interior design and craftsmanship. The Gold Award highlights the team’s ability to balance aesthetic appeal, functionality and architectural character while maintaining the building’s historical significance.
A striking glass façade further enhances the showroom’s appearance, complementing its heritage-inspired architecture with contemporary design elements. Through this combination, BYD Mansion Macalister Penang demonstrates how historical landmarks can be thoughtfully transformed to meet the expectations of today’s customers while preserving their cultural value.
