More than 100 children with special needs and underprivileged adults enjoyed an evening of laughter with stand-up comedian Praveen Kumar as Mojo Projects, in collaboration with the Malaysian Indian Community Centre (MICC), hosted them at Naanum Foodie Dhaan ahead of Deepavali.
Held at Omnia Auditorium, Menara BAC, Petaling Jaya, the event welcomed guests from Pusat Jagaan Kanak-Kanak Kurang Upaya KIRTARSH for a special celebration featuring comedy, food and festive cheer.
Part of the Mojo Comedy Series, Naanum Foodie Dhaan explores the humour in everyday food experiences, from childhood snacks and home-cooked biriyani to café orders and food delivery apps. Through personal anecdotes and Tamil wordplay, Praveen highlights how food connects people through memories, comfort and affection, including the familiar question, “Saaptiyaa?” meaning “Have you eaten?”
Before the performance, guests received goodie bags and food, and had the opportunity to meet Praveen personally. Ratna K. Nadarajan, CEO and Founder of Mojo Projects, joined the comedian for the gift distribution and photo session.
Ratna shared that the initiative was about offering more than necessities by giving guests the opportunity to enjoy an outing and participate in a festive celebration. With support from community partners and sponsors, Mojo Projects and MICC were able to create a meaningful experience for the KIRTARSH community.
The event was supported by sponsors PureSaiva, Harekrishna Textiles and Goodday Milk, alongside strategic partner DNA Creative Communications.
The performance also marked another collaboration between Praveen and Mojo Projects, following Family Man Returns, which explored family life. This time, Naanum Foodie Dhaan turned its attention to the dining table and the everyday moments surrounding food.
Through the initiative, the organisers hoped to spread Deepavali joy while creating opportunities for individuals from different backgrounds to share in the experience of live entertainment.
