Sime Motors Introduces BYD Certified to Elevate Confidence in Pre-Owned EVs

BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, has launched BYD Certified, BYD’s official certified pre-owned vehicle programme designed to provide Malaysians with a more trusted pathway to electric vehicle (EV) ownership. The launch also marks the opening of the first BYD Certified outlet in the Asia Pacific region at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie, highlighting Malaysia’s growing importance in BYD’s regional expansion strategy.

More than a conventional pre-owned vehicle programme, BYD Certified aims to raise the standard of pre-owned EV ownership in Malaysia. Every vehicle undergoes a professional inspection and is supported by verified battery health assessments, warranty coverage, financing solutions and aftersales support. Guided by the promise “Drive Pre-Owned with Confidence,” the programme is designed to deliver greater transparency, reliability and long-term value throughout the ownership journey.

The launch also marked an important milestone with BYD Certified completing its first customer delivery, involving a certified pre-owned BYD ATTO 3. The delivery reflects the growing adoption of certified pre-owned EVs in Malaysia and the increasing demand among consumers for quality vehicles backed by professional assurance and support.

According to Jacob Ma, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, BYD Certified represents an important step towards making EV ownership more accessible to Malaysians. As the EV market continues to mature, more customers are seeking quality pre-owned vehicles supported by assurance and professional services. Through the programme, BYD aims to extend its ownership experience to a wider audience while supporting customers throughout their entire EV journey.

Every certified pre-owned BYD vehicle undergoes a comprehensive inspection by trained technicians and is supported by verified vehicle history records, battery health assessments and warranty coverage. The programme also provides existing BYD owners with a trusted trade-in platform, making it easier for them to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem while supporting long-term ownership value.

5 Certified Quality Assurances

• 170-Point Inspection: Every vehicle undergoes a comprehensive professional inspection process to ensure it meets the required quality standards.
• Mileage Promise: Only vehicles with mileage below 100,000 km are eligible for certification.
• Vehicle Age of No More Than 4 Years: Certified vehicles must not be more than four years old and must meet the following mileage thresholds:
  • 1 year / ≤30,000 km
  • 2 years / ≤60,000 km
  • 3 years / ≤90,000 km
  • 4 years / ≤100,000 km
• Certified Clean History: Vehicles are guaranteed to have no major accident history, fire damage, flood damage or odometer tampering.
• Original Manufacturer Parts: Vehicle refurbishment is carried out using genuine BYD parts and approved repair standards.

Beyond vehicle certification, BYD Certified also provides customers with additional ownership benefits designed to enhance convenience, value and peace of mind.

BYD Certified Programme Highlights

• 5-Day Buy-Back Assurance: Customers are entitled to a full buy-back at the original purchase price if undisclosed structural, flood or fire damage is discovered within five days of delivery.
• Nationwide Authorised Sales, Service and Spare Parts (3S) Dealer Support: Customers can enjoy service, spare parts and warranty support through BYD’s authorised 3S dealer network across Malaysia.
• Trusted Trade-In Platform for Existing BYD Owners: Existing BYD owners can trade in their vehicles through a transparent evaluation process, making it easier to upgrade within the BYD ecosystem while supporting long-term ownership value.

Customers can now visit the first BYD Certified outlet at Sime Darby Auto Selection Glenmarie, where selected certified pre-owned BYD models are available, subject to stock availability. The outlet provides a one-stop ownership experience covering vehicle purchases, certification verification, trade-in services, financing solutions, warranty support and aftersales care.
