Maxim Malaysia has officially filed an appeal with the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD), signaling its readiness to fully cooperate with regulatory authorities and reinforce its dedication to safe and compliant e-hailing services in Malaysia.
At a recent media briefing, Maxim confirmed that all required documents have been submitted to APAD as part of the appeal process. The agency acknowledged the company’s efforts and improvements to align with national transport regulations.
“I would like to confirm that Maxim has shown full commitment to resolving this matter by adhering to our instructions and submitting all relevant documents,” said Puan Masita Binti Mat Isa, Deputy Director General of APAD. “We are reviewing the case, and we hope to see all e-hailing platforms, including Maxim, continue contributing to the growth of a balanced and fair digital economy. A competitive market is crucial for the advancement of the industry.”
Maxim emphasized that only legally certified drivers those with valid Public Service Vehicle (PSV) and E-Hailing Vehicle Permit (EVP) licenses are allowed to operate under its platform. To support driver compliance, Maxim collaborates with over 25 licensed driving schools across the country, easing the process of legalisation and offering support and incentives to new driver-partners.
“We actively assist candidates in obtaining the necessary permits and offer a system of compensation bonuses to encourage more people to become legal drivers,” said Chowdhury Mushfique Ahmed, Head of Legal and Government Relations at Maxim Malaysia. “We are ready to expand this effort with additional partnerships to help more Malaysians earn a legal income.”
The Maxim app also includes safety features such as an in-app chat monitored by the company, and a trip tracking function that allows passengers to share their live journey details with friends and family.
As a key player in Malaysia’s e-hailing landscape, Maxim continues to focus on enhancing urban mobility by providing accessible, safe, and affordable transport solutions. The company has created thousands of income opportunities, particularly in underserved regions, while helping to meet the daily transportation needs of users from all walks of life.
“Over half of our drivers rely on Maxim as a primary or supplementary source of income. We are proud to contribute to household earnings and to offer Malaysians an affordable commuting option,” said Musley Mohd Hazwan, Director of Maxim Malaysia.
Over the past six years, Maxim has paid taxes and contributed to building a competitive e-hailing ecosystem in Malaysia. The company has made significant investments in infrastructure, brand development, technological innovation, corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects, and local mobility solutions.
