The spirit of Merdeka travelled across Sabah throughout August as Maxim Malaysia joined the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang (KMJG) 2026, bringing National Day activities closer to communities across the state. Organised by the Department of Information Malaysia (JAPEN) Sabah, the month-long journey connected communities, government representatives and local organisations through a series of outreach activities.

Maxim’s participation began in Kota Kinabalu on 1 August 2026 before moving through Penampang, Putatan, Papar, Tuaran, Sandakan, Tawau and Lahad Datu. The journey concluded in Kota Kinabalu on 31 August, coinciding with the final KMJG stop and Merdeka Parade.

As the convoy travelled from one location to another, the programme reached schools, community halls and public spaces across Sabah. Participants were involved in awareness-sharing sessions, quizzes and interactive activities, while donations and community assistance were also provided as part of the outreach efforts.

For Maxim Malaysia, the initiative offered more than an opportunity to participate in a national celebration. As an e-hailing provider serving communities throughout Sabah, the company used the journey to strengthen its engagement with people at the grassroots level and support efforts to promote awareness and participation during National Month.

Maxim Malaysia Director Mohd Hazwan Musley said the company was proud to be involved in KMJG 2026 from the start of the journey until the Merdeka Parade. He described the participation as an opportunity to come closer to communities while celebrating independence and unity, with ride promotional codes provided to participants as a contribution towards the journey.

JAPEN Sabah Director Puan Jainisah Mohd Noor highlighted the importance of collaboration in reaching Sabah’s geographically diverse communities. She said the partnership with Maxim helped the programme engage different segments of society, with e-hailing vehicles providing daily mobility that supported grassroots outreach and encouraged public participation in National Month and Sabah Day activities.

Maxim’s community engagement in Sabah was further strengthened through a CSR initiative with the Tawau Association of the Deaf. The programme provided school materials and educational supplies to 94 students from Primary 1 to Primary 6, while interactive activities gave the children an opportunity to enjoy time with Maxim representatives.

The initiative reflected a broader emphasis on inclusion during the Merdeka period. By supporting students and engaging with the deaf community, Maxim highlighted the importance of ensuring that national celebrations extend to people from different backgrounds and circumstances.

From the streets of Kota Kinabalu to communities in Tawau and Lahad Datu, Maxim’s participation in KMJG 2026 demonstrated how mobility can help connect people and bring community initiatives closer to the grassroots. The company’s National Day activities reinforced its commitment to supporting the communities it serves while celebrating the shared values of patriotism, inclusion and unity.
