15 February 2018, Shah Alam – The Malaysia Women Marathon is one of the biggest all women’s event of its kind in Malaysia. It has grown from its humble beginnings in 2013 with almost thousand participants to a staggering women participating in 2017 last year. This event has grown as women’s interest in their own health and vitality has developed over the last few years.
Women from all lifestyles, young and old, will once again take to the pavements and roads of Shah Alam on the 4th March 2018. For many, this is an event that they have been waiting for the past year as it is purely for women and it gives them an opportunity to test their limits while supported by other women who share the same passion for running.
“There are many aspects women should be empowered with. This year we would like to empower women in health and bring more awareness of illness that affects women. This month being the cervical cancer awareness month, we are glad to work together with Project Rose, a group working on awareness for women to do cervical screening to eventually eliminate cervical cancer” said Dr Woo Yee Ling, Project Rose Director.
“The event has no equals in its appeal. Women of all ages representing every states and every walk of life take part in this great Festival of Women. No pressure is put on anyone. The Malaysia Women Marathon a great success which gather good coverage abroad and also many international runners have joined in yearly basis” said, YB Puan Elizabeth Wong, Chairman Standing Committee Tourism, Consumer Affairs & Environment Of Selangor.
Women are putting on their shoes to come together on this day not only to join the marathon but to show their support to one another celebrating this day specially for women. The runners will be running on a scenic route of Capital City of Selangor that will cover the Blue Mosque, the park, Stadium Malawati and Istana Bukit Kayangan, along the residential areas of Shah Alam. The safety of the runners are at the top of priority, as such security and patrol by race marshals and police will be stepped up this year to help and support the event.

Registration is open for the marathons for four categories, Full Marathon (42KM), Half Marathon (21KM), 10KM and 5KM Fun Run inclusive of Individual category, 2 Option of Family Package. 6,000 participants are expected to join this year. Prizes for the run this year include cash prizes and attractive product vouchers worth RM 45,000.00, provided by sponsors.
