Hajah Hazlina binti Yon, reaffirming our shared commitment to a safe, healthy and sustainable workplace. KUALA LUMPUR, August 7, 2026 — PNB Merdeka Ventures Sdn. Berhad (PNBMV) has officially launched its Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Month 2026 at the Merdeka 118 precinct, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy and sustainable workplace. The initiative was launched in conjunction with National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Week 2026 and officiated by Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Director General Ir. Ts. Hajah Hazlina binti Yon. The launch featured an Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) podcast involving PNBMV Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Ir. Ts. (Dr) Izwan Ibrahim and Ir. Ts. Hajah Hazlina. The discussion reflected on 150 years of occupational safety and health development in Malaysia while exploring perspectives and aspirations for strengthening OSH standards and practices across the country. A symbolic flag-off for the Merdeka 118 Spire Climb was also held as part of the launch programme. Approximately 50 PNBMV employees and tenants from the tower took part in the challenge, ascending the tower’s 160-metre spire as part of the initiative’s focus on health, fitness and employee engagement. Dato’ Ir. Ts. (Dr) Izwan Ibrahim led PNB and PNB Merdeka Ventures employees, together with tenants of the Merdeka 118 Precinct, in reciting the Merdeka 118 Safety Pledge, reaffirming that safety is a shared responsibility. Dato’ Ir. Ts. (Dr) Izwan Ibrahim said managing one of the world’s tallest buildings requires an unwavering commitment to safety. He emphasised that everyone working in, visiting or contributing to the operations of the Merdeka 118 precinct has an important role in creating a safe environment. He added that HSE Month provides an opportunity for employees, partners and authorities to come together, share knowledge, strengthen capabilities and reinforce a culture where safety remains a priority. The programme reflects PNBMV’s broader objective of maintaining a world-class precinct while ensuring the well-being of everyone within its environment. OSH Talk at Menara Merdeka Maybank, featured Director of DOSH Kuala Lumpur, Ir. Ts. Hajah Habsah binti Ishak; Director General of DOSH Malaysia, Ir. Ts. Hajah Hazlina binti Yon; and PNB Merdeka Ventures Chief Executive Officer, Dato’ Ir. Ts. (Dr.) Izwan Ibrahim, who shared perspectives on strengthening a proactive safety culture and advancing occupational safety and health. DOSH Director General Ir. Ts. Hajah Hazlina binti Yon commended PNBMV for placing health, safety and well-being at the centre of its operations. She highlighted the importance of viewing occupational safety and health not simply as a compliance requirement, but as a shared organisational responsibility supported by strong leadership, continuous learning and collaboration. Throughout July, PNBMV is rolling out a series of HSE activities aimed at promoting workplace safety, health and well-being throughout the Merdeka 118 precinct. Among the highlights is the Merdeka 118 Be-Fit Tower Run, which will feature world champion tower runner Soh Wai Ching. Other activities include leadership HSE site inspections, emergency response exercises conducted with the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia (BOMBA), a mental health awareness session led by motivational speaker Da’i Izzhar Nazri, health screenings and community activities at Stadium Merdeka. PNBMV is also continuing its efforts to integrate safety, sustainability and occupant well-being into the management of the Merdeka 118 precinct. The tower has achieved LEED certification and Platinum-level WELL Core Certification, while the precinct is also working towards GreenRE and Green Building Index (GBI) certifications. Through HSE Month 2026, PNBMV aims to further strengthen its workplace safety culture while encouraging employees, tenants, partners and the wider community to play an active role in creating healthier and safer environments. The initiative underscores the organisation’s vision of developing Merdeka 118 into a world-class precinct where occupational safety, sustainability and well-being go hand in hand.
