Auto ConneXion-Ford Reaches Milestone with Over 24,000 Next-Generation Ford Rangers on Malaysian Roads Since 2022

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford (Auto ConneXion-Ford) reinforces its commitment to customers in East Malaysia with the establishment of its new East Malaysia Parts Hub in Kota Kinabalu, improving parts availability and delivering faster, more efficient aftersales support across Sabah and Sarawak. Service facilities that will benefit include those in Kapit and Mukah, along with nine sales and service touchpoints across Sabah and Sarawak.

Sime Darby Auto ConneXion-Ford, the sole distributor of Ford vehicles in Malaysia, is strengthening its presence in the country’s growing pick-up truck market with the introduction of three new variants to the Ford Ranger family – the Ranger Platinum, Ranger Sport and Ranger XL. The launch coincides with a significant milestone of more than 24,000 Next-Generation Ford Rangers now travelling on Malaysian roads since the model was introduced in 2022.

The expanded line-up reflects Ford’s commitment to meeting the changing expectations of Malaysian drivers, with pick-up trucks increasingly becoming more than just work vehicles. Today, these versatile vehicles are also used for daily commuting, family trips and outdoor adventures, creating demand for models that combine durability, advanced technology, comfort and performance.

The new Ranger variants are designed to cater to different customer needs. The Ranger XL serves as a practical and dependable workhorse for businesses, fleet operators and commercial users, while the Ranger Sport offers a bold and versatile option for urban professionals and active families. At the top of the range, the Ranger Platinum combines premium comfort and sophisticated design with powerful pick-up capabilities for customers seeking a more refined driving experience.

The latest additions further reinforce the Ford Ranger’s strong global reputation. Over the past 20 years, approximately 5.1 million Rangers have been sold across more than 180 markets, while the model has earned numerous international accolades, including the 2025 North American Truck of the Year award. In Malaysia, the Next-Generation Ford Ranger has also received industry recognition, with the Ranger Platinum 2.0L Bi-Turbo Diesel winning the People’s Choice Award and Truck of the Year at the MARii Car of the Year Awards 2024, followed by the Ranger WildTrak 3.0 V6 being named Pickup Truck of the Year in 2025.

The Ranger Platinum stands out as the flagship model of the expanded line-up, powered by a 3.0L V6 turbo diesel engine delivering 250PS and 600Nm of torque. It features premium touches such as 20-inch alloy wheels, an exclusive Platinum grille, quilted leather-accented seats with heating and ventilation, a Bang & Olufsen eight-speaker sound system and an exclusive Acacia Green exterior colour.

Meanwhile, the Ranger Sport is designed for customers seeking a combination of style, performance and everyday versatility. Available with 3.0L V6 Turbo Diesel and 2.0L Turbo Diesel engine options, the model features sporty exterior accents, 18-inch alloy wheels, two-tone seats and advanced four-wheel-drive systems, making it suitable for both urban driving and weekend adventures.

The Ranger XL, on the other hand, focuses on practicality and reliability, making it an ideal choice for businesses and customers who depend on their vehicles for demanding daily operations. With a functional truck bed, enhanced safety features and intuitive technology, the model is built to provide dependable performance on the job.

Across the range, the Ford Ranger offers impressive capabilities, including up to 1,000kg of payload capacity, up to 3,500kg of towing capability and up to 800mm of water-wading depth. Beginning phased operations on 27 July 2026, the facility will initially stock around 1,000 fast-moving genuine Ford and Motorcraft parts, helping to reduce parts lead times and improve servicing efficiency for customers across the region.

The expanded Ford Ranger line-up is now open for bookings at authorised Ford dealerships nationwide, with prices in Peninsular Malaysia starting from RM127,888 for the Ranger XL, RM145,888 for the Ranger Sport 2.0L, RM159,888 for the Ranger Sport 3.0L and RM205,888 for the Ranger Platinum. As part of a limited-time launch promotion, selected customers will also receive complimentary accessories or service benefits, depending on the model purchased.

With more than 24,000 Next-Generation Ford Rangers already on Malaysian roads, the latest expansion highlights the model’s growing appeal among drivers seeking a vehicle capable of adapting to work, family life and adventure.
