Sunway Medical Centre Velocity Becomes Southeast Asia's First Hospital to Introduce the Comprehensive NORAV Clinical Management System, Elevating Patient Care Standards

Sunway Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) has become the first hospital in Southeast Asia to introduce the comprehensive NORAV Clinical Management System, marking a significant milestone in the region’s digital healthcare transformation. The integrated platform centralises diagnostic information, enabling authorised healthcare professionals to securely access patient records and medical reports across the hospital. By streamlining clinical workflows, the system is designed to improve efficiency and support faster, more coordinated patient care.

The NORAV Medical ECG Management System (NEMS) Web platform integrates six key diagnostic services into a single digital ecosystem: electrocardiogram (ECG), cardiac stress testing, pulmonary function testing (PFT), Holter monitoring, ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM), and ankle-brachial pressure index (ABPI) testing. Bringing these services together allows diagnostic information to be stored, shared and reviewed in real time, giving multidisciplinary medical teams quicker access to patient data for more informed treatment decisions.

According to SMCV Chief Executive Officer Susan Cheow, the new platform enhances the way diagnostic information is managed and shared throughout the hospital. She noted that quicker access to medical records helps clinicians make timely decisions while improving collaboration between healthcare professionals. Patients also benefit from shorter waiting times for diagnostic reports and a smoother journey from assessment to treatment.

Consultant Physician and Cardiologist Dr Tee Chee Hian highlighted that timely access to complete diagnostic information is essential, particularly for patients requiring multiple investigations or specialist consultations. With all relevant medical records available through one integrated system, clinicians can review results more efficiently, gain a clearer understanding of patients’ conditions, and coordinate treatment plans seamlessly across departments.

Beyond improving clinical efficiency, the digital platform also supports SMCV’s sustainability initiatives. By reducing reliance on printed diagnostic reports, particularly ECG records, the hospital expects to cut ECG paper usage by up to 50 percent. This paper-light approach not only reduces environmental impact but also enhances resource management while maintaining secure and accessible patient information.
