Raising Community Awareness on Early Medical Intervention
Sunway Medical Centre Velocity (SMCV) is taking a proactive step towards raising public awareness of stroke prevention and brain health through its first-of-its-kind educational Stroke Mirror in Malaysia.
The initiative will be featured at the Brain for Life event, taking place at Sunway Velocity Mall from 30 October to 1 November 2026. The event aims to educate the public on recognising stroke symptoms, understanding brain health and the importance of seeking immediate medical attention.
According to the Malaysia National Stroke Registry 2017–2024, only 36.3% of patients with ischaemic stroke arrived at the hospital within the critical 4.5-hour treatment window. This highlights the importance of improving public understanding of stroke warning signs and encouraging faster action when symptoms occur.
Interactive Stroke Mirror and BE FAST Symptom Recognition
One of the key highlights is the educational Stroke Mirror, designed to help visitors understand the possible effects of stroke through an interactive experience. The event will also introduce the BE FAST approach, which stands for Balance, Eyes, Face, Arm, Speech and Time, to help the public identify common stroke symptoms.
Visitors can also take part in the FAST Heroes programme, supported by the Angels Initiative, which aims to educate communities about stroke awareness and emergency response.

Comprehensive Health Assessments and Specialist Consultations
In addition, the event will offer basic health, nerve and cognitive assessments, alongside opportunities to consult neuroscience specialists. Visitors can also explore interactive activities, including robotics chess and cognitive-based games designed to encourage greater awareness of brain function.
Through this initiative, SMCV hopes to empower individuals and families with practical knowledge about stroke prevention, early recognition and timely medical intervention.
The Brain for Life event serves as a reminder that understanding the warning signs of stroke can make a significant difference, as every second matters when it comes to protecting brain health.
