Miri is set to become the epicenter of entertainment this May, as two major concerts Konsert MeleTOP TVS and Konsert Berkat Gawai-Kaamatan are scheduled to take place at the Miri Indoor Stadium. These events, presented by TVS in collaboration with Astro and supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts Sarawak, aim to celebrate local talent and cultural heritage.
Konsert MeleTOP TVS, powered by U Mobile, will kick off on May 17, 2025, featuring a stellar lineup including Dayang Nurfaizah, Hael Husaini, Stacy, Dolla, Floor 88, Namie, and more. This marks the first time the popular MeleTOP program ventures outside the Klang Valley, with a special recording scheduled for the following day, May 18. The concert will be broadcast live on TVS (Channel 122 on Astro, MYTV, and Unifi TV), Astro ONE, and Sooka.
The festivities continue with Konsert Berkat Gawai-Kaamatan on May 21, 2025, headlined by Malaysia’s queen of rock, Ella. Joining her are Bob Yusof, Ramles Walter, Dabra Sia, Velvet Aduk, Roxy Ixzy, SMDX, and special guest Marina Jara from Kalimantan. This concert celebrates the rich cultural tapestry of Sarawak, Sabah, and Kalimantan, and will be broadcast on TVS on May 31 at 9 PM.
Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah expressed enthusiasm for the events, highlighting the collaboration between TVS and Astro as a significant boost to the local creative industry. He emphasized the importance of providing platforms for Sabah and Sarawak talents to showcase their skills on a grand stage.
Acting CEO of TVS, Mohamad Sardon Zainal, noted Miri’s strategic location near Brunei, Sabah, and Kalimantan as ideal for hosting such large-scale events. He anticipates that these concerts will attract audiences from across the region, further establishing Miri as a cultural hub.
