HONOR Announces Strategic Shift Towards an AI-Powered Device Ecosystem

HONOR, the global technology brand, announced its bold HONOR ALPHA PLAN at an event in Barcelona, Spain, outlining the company’s transformation from a smartphone manufacturer to a global leader in the AI device ecosystem. This visionary three-step corporate strategy highlights the brand’s commitment to shaping the future of intelligent technology, emphasizing collaboration, innovation, and maximizing human potential.

James Li, CEO of HONOR, addressed the audience, emphasizing the transformative potential of AI, which he believes will revolutionize productivity, society, and culture. “The AI revolution will completely reshape the device industry. This shift is an opportunity we must embrace together to address both the challenges and opportunities AI technology presents,” said Li.

The HONOR ALPHA PLAN is structured around three key phases that mark HONOR’s journey toward becoming a leading player in the AI-driven ecosystem. The first phase focuses on the development of intelligent phones that integrate human-centric AI to elevate user experience and seamlessly assist with daily tasks. The second phase involves creating an open AI ecosystem where HONOR will collaborate with global partners to build an interconnected network of devices that enhances the AI experience. The third and final phase aims to break boundaries around human potential by creating an environment where carbon-based life and silicon-based intelligence coexist, unlocking new opportunities in the AGI (Artificial General Intelligence) era.

HONOR showcased its innovative AI solutions, including the world’s first GUI-based personal mobile AI agent, which promises to enhance daily convenience. In collaboration with Google Cloud and Qualcomm Technologies, HONOR demonstrated how this AI agent could seamlessly assist with tasks like making table reservations, considering appointments and traffic information simultaneously. Furthermore, HONOR introduced AiMAGE, a new brand of imaging technology powered by the AI Kernel, a device-cloud solution that offers groundbreaking improvements in mobile photography. By using a 1.3 billion parameter on-device model and a 12.4 billion parameter cloud model, HONOR’s AiMAGE technology promises a 50% boost in image clarity and greatly enhanced telephoto images.

Additionally, the brand launched AI Upscale, a feature designed to restore old portraits, which will be available to the HONOR Magic7 series from March, along with the world’s first all-ecosystem file-sharing technology, offering ultra-fast file transfers across iOS and Android devices.

HONOR is calling on the industry to work together in the AI era by sharing capabilities and enabling open collaborations. The company pledged a USD 10 billion investment over the next five years to help build this shared ecosystem. The collaboration aims to ensure a seamless and interconnected AI experience across devices. Industry leaders, including representatives from Google Cloud, Qualcomm Technologies, CKH Group, Orange, Telefónica, and Vodafone, joined HONOR for a symbolic tree-lighting ceremony, which represented the future growth of the AI ecosystem and the collective efforts to co-develop AI technologies that benefit consumers globally.

HONOR’s commitment to consumers is further demonstrated through a significant pledge to provide seven years of Android OS and security updates for the HONOR Magic series starting in the European Union. Additionally, HONOR announced plans to accelerate its sustainability goals, with a target of reaching operational carbon neutrality by 2040, five years earlier than previously projected, and achieving carbon neutrality across its entire supply chain by 2050.

At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, HONOR unveiled a range of new products designed to elevate consumer experience. These included the HONOR MagicBook Pro 14, an AI-powered PC with HONOR Turbo X technology offering powerful performance and exceptional battery life; the HONOR Pad V9, a slim tablet with an AI-powered learning and office experience, featuring a 2.8K HONOR Eye Comfort Display; the HONOR Watch 5 Ultra, a fitness-oriented smartwatch offering up to 15 days of battery life; and the HONOR Earbuds Open, ergonomic earbuds that integrate AI-powered translation and real-time interpretation, providing a smarter and more connected experience for users.

HONOR’s ambitious vision to lead the future of AI technology and devices with the HONOR ALPHA PLAN is a transformative step toward a new intelligent world. By focusing on collaboration, innovation, and the integration of AI across its ecosystem, HONOR aims to not only advance its technological offerings but also contribute to creating a better, more sustainable future.
