Although GNG operates its own manufacturing facility in Klang, the collaboration allows the company to introduce advanced production technologies, unique textures, and sophisticated designs that meet the evolving preferences of today’s consumers.

During the visit, the team observed Japanese tile production using firing temperatures of between 1,200°C and 1,300°C, resulting in stronger, denser, and more durable products. Japanese manufacturers also continuously introduce new collections while maintaining strict quality control standards to ensure product consistency and excellence.

GNG Tiles Malaysia has partnered with TN Corporation of Japan for more than a decade. What began with a limited range of imported products has since expanded into a comprehensive portfolio that includes handcrafted artisan tiles. Today, over 200 Japanese designs are available within GNG’s catalogue, with many stocked locally to ensure faster delivery and minimise project delays.

One of the collection’s defining features is its inspiration from the 1,300-year-old Mino-yaki pottery tradition from Gifu Prefecture. Each tile showcases natural variations in texture, colour, and finish, creating distinctive pieces that celebrate traditional Japanese artistry while complementing modern architecture.

Abdul Razak explained that the collection is designed for customers who value premium craftsmanship, artistic expression, and exclusivity. Each tile reflects meticulous workmanship, traditional techniques passed down through generations, and rigorous quality assurance processes.

The collection is particularly well suited for the increasingly popular Japandi interior concept, which blends Japanese minimalism with Scandinavian simplicity. Its soft tones, refined textures, and understated elegance also complement minimalist, contemporary, Scandinavian, and industrial interior styles commonly found in homes, cafés, restaurants, hotels, and commercial developments.
