Kuala Lumpur, 01 March 2019 – The launch of Yayasan Petronas by Malaysia’s own oil and gas company, Petronas, as an act of its corporate social responsibility (CSR). It is to deliver a broader and deeper impact of CSR activities across communities in Malaysia.
The launch was officiated by Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and witnessed by the foundation’s chairman Datuk Ahmad Nizam Salleh and Petronas president and group chief executive officer Tan Sri Wan Zulkiflee Wan Ariffin.
The goal is to create spaces and pathways where it can nurture collaboration among corporations, institutions, organisations, communities and governments.
The focus areas were on education, community development and environment. The aim is to deliver sustainable impact, improving the quality of life and socio-economic outcomes for communities across the nation.
The education is within cultivating conducive learning environments, strengthening skills and inspiring interest in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Through this program, teachers and students can realise their true potential. Supplying basic needs for communities, creating opportunities for better health, alleviating poverty and empowering youths to achieve their potential are within the community well-being & development program. While on the environmental side, the care and conserve of marine to mangrove, shores to rivers for the well being of the current and future generations.
