The tourism sector in Selangor is entering a new era of digital transformation following the appointment of Bateriku (M) Sdn Bhd as the Official Roadside Assistance Partner for Tourism Selangor. This strategic move, formalised through a Memorandum of Collaboration (MoC) signed on 14 May 2026, aims to leverage Bateriku’s tech-driven mobility solutions to enhance the travel experience across the state. By integrating on-demand roadside support into the state’s tourism framework, the partnership ensures that visitors can explore Selangor’s vast landscape with the confidence that professional help is digitally accessible at any time. This collaboration marks a significant step in making Selangor a smarter and more connected destination for modern travellers who rely on seamless digital integration. Central to this “digital boost” is the onboarding of Tourism Selangor and its affiliated entities as Bateriku Digital Partners. This integration allows for a more streamlined referral ecosystem, where emergency support services are made easily accessible to tourists through various digital touchpoints. Beyond just providing battery replacements or jumpstarts, Bateriku will offer its full suite of roadside assistance services to both domestic and international visitors. The partnership also extends into the physical realm of tourism activations, where Bateriku will provide official support coverage for major state-led programmes and tourism events. To ensure maximum visibility, Bateriku’s nationwide mobile service fleet will feature “Visit Selangor” branding, acting as moving billboards that promote the state as a safe and accessible destination. These zones will serve as dedicated points of contact for mobility support, allowing hotels and hospitality partners to offer roadside assistance as a premium, value-added amenity for their guests. In a move towards data-driven governance, the collaboration will also involve the sharing of anonymised data regarding breakdown hotspots. By identifying high-risk travel zones through Bateriku’s extensive service data, Tourism Selangor can work towards improving road safety infrastructure and signage in areas with high tourist traffic. This proactive approach to road safety, combined with the convenience of on-demand digital support, reinforces Selangor’s commitment to fostering a resilient and innovative tourism industry. Through this public-private partnership, Selangor is successfully setting a new benchmark for how technology can be used to protect and enhance the visitor experience.
