Malaysia Coffee Fest 2019 opens today to celebrate Malaysians’ love for coffee from around the world

July 25, 2019, Petaling Jaya, Malaysia Malaysia Coffee Fest 2019 opened this morning at the popular lifestyle and shopping destination 1 Utama Shopping Cenire, welcoming all coffee-lovers and the public. The four-day caffeine-fuelled festival which features more than 400 local and international brands from 35 exhibitors, is expected to be thronged by more than 20,000 visitors and coffee enthusiasts. The festival spans over 10,000 square feet of event floor space at the lower ground floor atrium of 1 Utama Shopping Centre.

Starting from today to this Sunday 28 July 2019, the event will also see the meeting of the nation’s baristas and the finest purveyors of coffee beans and brews from around the world. Reputed to be the largest coffee festival in the country, the third edition of Malaysia Coffee Fest will also host the gathering of Malaysia’s top-class baristas, local artisan coffee bean roasters, independent specialty coffee houses, coffee beans specialists and suppliers, and coffee equipment distributors and manufacturers.

At the festival, coffee-lovers and fans of the dark brew will also get to satisfy their sweet cravings with delicious offerings by local bakeries lining up their top-notch pastries and treats to pair-up perfectly with their hot cuppa.

For four days, visitors can look forward to the lively line-up of activities on and off-stage, such as two national coffee championships and a mini latte art competition where Malaysia’s top baristas and latte artistes battle one another for the coveted top spots:

1. Malaysia Open Barista Championship (MBOC) 2019 — 25, 26 & 28 July 2019

2. Malaysia Open Latte Art Championship (MOLC) 2019 — 25, 26 & 28 July 2019

  • Sure-win dip — with any purchase of RM200 and above

Apart from the chance to win prizes, coffee-lovers and visitors can attend coffee knowledge series held by the Barista Guild Asia (BGA), a prominent coffee association in Malaysia comprising coffee professionals with a vision to inspire and empower both coffee consumers and coffee professionals. The workshops by BGA is presented by an outstanding line-up of coffee experts who will present topics such as “Espresso Yourself’, “Introduction to Basic Latte Art’, “Latte Art for Kids”, “Coffee Brewing Made Easy’, and “The Journey from Bean to Cup”.

With urbanisation accompanied an increasing affluence and growth in Malaysia, consumers’ behaviour and lifestyles are undergoing marked changes as well. The demand for various types of coffee products such as specialty coffee, premium coffee concoctions, and the up-io- date products and services have led to new opportunities for the coffee and café industries in Malaysia. With the rise of the coffee and café cultures across the nation where young adults and working professionals are showing keen interests in coffee, this has encouraged cafe owners and players in the coffee industry to gain a firm foothold in the booming local market.

Malaysia Coffee Fest 2019 is organised by CEMS Conference & Exhibition (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd., the Malaysian arm of Conference and Exhibition Management Services, the creator of the highly successful Café Asia, Cafe Malaysia and Café Cambodia series, co-hosted by Malaysia Specialty Coffee Association (MSCA) and Café Owners Alliance, Malaysia (COA My). The coffee competitions are co-organised by the Barista Guild Asia (BGA).
