Huawei’s Denny Deng Shares Vision for Pacific’s Digital Future at PITA 2025

At the 29th Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) Annual Business Forum & Expo 2025, Huawei’s President of Carrier Business Group for Asia Pacific, Mr. Denny Deng, delivered a compelling keynote on how carriers are shaping the digital future of the Pacific region through sustainable ICT innovation. Held in Honiara, Solomon Islands, from 28 April to 2 May, the event gathered hundreds of representatives from governments, telecom operators, technology vendors, and media, making it the largest ICT-focused forum in the Pacific.

In his keynote titled “Strengthening Digital Sovereignty and Connectivity through Sustainable ICT Innovation,” Mr. Deng emphasized the vital role of carriers in delivering three key values: Connection, Industry, and Era. He explained that Connection Value refers to expanding digital access through broader 4G coverage and the integration of people, homes, and smart devices. This opens up new opportunities for digital services and helps bridge the region’s connectivity gap. Industry Value focuses on leveraging ICT to support sectoral growth from healthcare and education to government services—while creating a sustainable, collaborative ecosystem. Lastly, Era Value represents the shift towards intelligence-driven services, with AI poised to help solve regional challenges like geographic isolation, limited data infrastructure, and vulnerability to natural disasters.

Mr. Deng acknowledged the Pacific Islands’ impressive digital momentum, highlighting steady GDP growth and increasing adoption of digital services. However, he noted that significant opportunities remain, particularly in strengthening mobile infrastructure and promoting wider access. He praised the industry’s unified efforts in advancing digital inclusion and commended the role of trusted partners in achieving shared progress.

Huawei, he said, remains committed to supporting the Pacific’s transformation. The company has increased its R&D investments and continues to develop green ICT solutions that reduce energy use and environmental impact. These innovations are designed to help carriers enhance efficiency while preparing the region for the demands of the future. Mr. Deng also emphasized the transformative potential of artificial intelligence, from real-time analytics to automation and smart applications, which can revolutionise productivity across sectors.

Closing his speech with a strong note of optimism, Mr. Deng reiterated Huawei’s long-term commitment to the region. By fostering collaboration, strengthening digital infrastructure, and embracing AI, he believes the Pacific Islands can unlock unprecedented economic and societal growth. He ended with a unifying message: “In Pacific, For Pacific. Together, We Transform. Together, We Lead Digital Economy Growth.”
