Program Jualan Mega Ehsan RAHMAH (JER) telah dilancarkan secara rasmi di Dewan Serbaguna Majlis Perbandaran Ampang Jaya (MPAJ) AU2, Taman Keramat, Selangor, oleh Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, Menteri Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup, dan Yang Berhormat. Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari, Menteri Besar Selangor.
Majlis Pelancaran Program Jualan Mega Ehsan RAHMAH (JER) pada hari ini adalah sebagai tanda kick-off Program Jualan Ehsan RAHMAH (JER) yang akan dilaksanakan di semua 56 kawasan DUN di seluruh Negeri Selangor, di mana lokasi dan keperluan logistik diuruskan oleh pihak DUN.
Program Jualan Mega Ehsan RAHMAH (JER) yang pertama diadakan di Negeri Selangor ini menawarkan dan memfokuskan penjualan bagi tujuh (7) jenis barang keperluan asas utama pengguna seperti Ayam Segar, Beras, Telur Ayam, Minyak Masak, Ikan, Gula Pasir dan Daging Sejuk Beku pada harga runcit serendah 30% berbanding harga pasaran. Tempoh bagi jualan JER ini akan berlangsung selama tiga (3) jam sahaja dengan konsep premis terbuka.
Untuk pengetahuan, Program JER Selangor ini merupakan kerjasama strategik pertama yang digerakkan di antara Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri dan Kos Sara Hidup (KPDN) Selangor bersama Kerajaan Negeri melalui Perbadanan Kemajuan Pertanian Selangor (PKPS). Kerjasama strategik ini adalah idea penggabungan dan penyelarasan dua program di bawah inisiatif kos sara hidup iaitu Program Jualan RAHMAH dan Jualan Ehsan Rakyat di Selangor dengan penjenamaan semula sebagai Jualan Mega Ehsan RAHMAH (JER).
Seterusnya, hasil penjenamaan semula sebagai Jualan Mega Ehsan RAHMAH (JER) adalah disebabkan Program Jualan RAHMAH dan Jualan Ehsan Rakyat didapati mempunyai objektif, modus pelaksanaan dan golongan sasaran yang hampir serupa. Susulan daripada hasrat dan matlamat adalah sama telah menghasilkan satu persetujuan bersama di antara KPDN Selangor dengan Kerajaan Negeri untuk mengambil satu langkah ke hadapan yang logikal (logical next step) di mana inisiatif JER ini dilihat dapat mengurangkan kos pelaksanaan, meningkatkan impak dan memberi manfaat kepada lebih ramai golongan yang kurang berkemampuan di negeri Selangor.
KPDN bersama Kerajaan Negeri berharap Program JER Selangor ini dapat memberi impak yang positif kepada rakyat Selangor, terutamanya di kalangan golongan berpendapatan rendah dan penduduk kawasan luar bandar. For the three months that ended on March 31, 2023 (1Q2023), Bank Islam Malaysia Berhad (Bank Islam or the Group) reported a net profit of RM118.1 million, an increase of 11.5% over the same period in 2022.
In a Bursa Malaysia filing on Tuesday (30 May), Bank Islam said the revenue for the quarter rose 42.6% to RM1,103.9 million versus RM774.0 million previously. The Group’s net income improved due to higher non-fund-based income, which surged by RM60.0 million or 132.4%, driven by higher investment income and net gain from foreign exchange transactions.
This performance translates into earnings per share of 5.33 sen and annualised net return on equity of 7.0%.
Gross financing grew by 10.7% year-on-year to RM66.2 billion, while customer deposits and investment accounts stood at RM77.8 billion, with a year-on-year increase of RM9.7 billion or 14.3%. This was mainly attributable to the healthy year-on-year growth of 25.9% or RM6.8 billion in total current and saving accounts and transactional investment accounts (CASATIA), to stand at RM33.0 billion. This composition made a healthy level of 42.5% of total customer deposits and investment accounts. The Group’s Total Capital Ratio remained strong at 21.2%.
Bank Islam Group Chief Executive Officer, Mohd Muazzam Mohamed, said, “As at the end of March 2023, Bank Islam’s total assets stood at RM92.1 billion, with a year-on year growth of 14.4%, driven by year-on-year growth in both financing and investment securities.”
“Our healthy capital and liquidity position reflects that our growth momentum and fundamentals remain strong,” he added.
As of 31 March 2023, the gross impaired financing ratio was 1.37% which remains better than the industry average of 1.75%.
Economic Outlook
Overall, the Malaysian economy is off to a strong start when the country’s Gross Domestic Production expanded by 5.6% during 1Q2023 as indicated in Bank Negara Malaysia’s Quarterly Bulletin for First Quarter 2023 issued on 12 May 2023, surpassing its regional neighbours such as Indonesia, China, Vietnam and Singapore, suggesting that 2023-year performance target of between 4.0% and 5.0% is plausible. Such growth is buoyed by resilient domestic spending, given solid private expenditure and a further improvement in the labour market conditions. This bodes well for the Group’s prospects, which are primarily in retail banking.
While the current economic indicators paint an optimistic picture for the rest of the year, the second half of the year remains challenging as the economy is still subject to external development risks, such as dimmer global growth prospects. Though the Malaysian economic growth in the upcoming quarters are anticipated to come in lower, it is believed that several upside risks could counterbalance the 2H2023 growth headwinds, including the positive spillover from China’s economic reopening, further improvements in the labour market and the continuation of megaprojects.

The Out of the World (OOTW) event, which has established itself as “MALAYSIA’S LARGEST WATER & MUSIC FESTIVAL,” held its official grand opening ceremony under the auspices of YB Dato Sri’ Tiong King Sing, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC). Lupus, also known as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), is a chronic autoimmune illness that challenges sufferers with a lifetime battle. Launched in conjunction with World Lupus Day, the #UnlockingLupus campaign was officiated by Dr Izzuna Mudla Mohamed Ghazali, Deputy Director, Malaysian Health Technology Assessment Section, Medical Development Division, Ministry of Health, and attended by Dr Heselynn Hussein, President of the Malaysian SLE Association, Dr Syahrul Sazliyana, UKM Rheumatologist and a representative of the Malaysian Society of Rheumatology, and Bernice Chan, Chief Marketing Officer of AstraZeneca.
The #UnlockingLupus campaign is driven by a purposeful-built microsite (www.unlockinglupusmy.com) supported by AstraZeneca. The microsite serves as a one-stop information centre on lupus, providing the public with information on lupus and resources, ranging from diagnosis to treatment.
Commenting on the campaign, Dr Heselynn Hussein shared, “From the physical symptoms to the emotional struggles that come with having lupus, it is a constant battle for patients with lupus, their caregivers and loved ones. We believe the best way to support them is to spread awareness through this collaborative campaign that shares more insights on lupus, and how the public can support the patients and caregivers.”
According to Dr Heselynn, PSLEM provides a SLE fund that patients can apply for support. Although there is no cure for lupus, the illness can be managed with proper treatment and support. Depending on the type and severity of symptoms, the available treatments help manage the ‘butterfly’ flares, while ensuring minimal damage to the organs.
In conjunction with the recent World Lupus Day on 10 May, PSLEM had organised the ‘Walk-a-Payung for Lupus” event, with the support of AstraZeneca, as part of its ongoing efforts to raise public awareness on lupus. The walk with umbrellas symbolises the support and protection needed for those with lupus, and the impact of lupus on parents and their support system.
Dr Syahrul Sazliyana stated, “Our aim is to help patients be heard and supported in this silent battle. Living with lupus is challenging as it takes a toll on the body and mind. With the campaign microsite, we invite everyone to learn more about lupus, where a diagnosis can be challenging as the symptoms are often hidden away.”
Speaking from a patient perspective, Jean Chan, a 66-year-old lupus patient shared, “I have lived with lupus for the past 29 years and lupus has taught me to be resilient. To me, the most important factor to overcome this ill feeling of living with this debilitating disease is the continuous support, encouragement, care, and love to the patient.”
Bernice Chan, Chief Marketing Officer, AstraZeneca explained, “Many living with lupus face challenges with diagnosis, unpredictable disease flares and limited care options. Globally, lupus places a heavy physical, emotional and financial burden on the 5 million people living with the condition. At AstraZeneca, we are working towards a future where people living with lupus have access to quality care. This goal is being advanced through scientific innovation, stronger collaboration with the lupus community, and an increased focus on health equity.
Through a partnership-driven approach, our aim is to work together with associations to empower the public with knowledge of this chronic illness, promote awareness of early diagnosis and seek treatment. Together, we can act on advancing the standard of care and ultimately, help those with lupus lead fuller lives,” Bernice further explained.

Sejak Shaz berjaya mara ke peringkat akhir siri realiti TV3 Terpaling Juara dan melancarkan single terbarunya, “Dentingan Jiwa,” pada bulan Mac, namanya semakin dikenali. Shaz, yang nama sebenarnya Shazreen Shaharum, telah memulakan siri podcast yang dipanggil “Secangkir Latte & Rindu” hanya untuk pengikut setianya pada 19 April 2023.
Podcast ini menceritakan tentang kehidupan wanita muda berusia awal 20-an mengupas isu-isu yang berkaitan dengan cinta dan patah hati ini mula disiarkan pada pertengahan April 2023. Dengan perlahan-lahan, ia mula memikat selera pendengar yang inginkan kandungan dari podcaster tempatan, terutamanya dalam Bahasa Melayu.
Menerusi podcast “Secangkir Latte & Rindu”, Shaz berkongsi bersama pendengar tentang kisah hidupnya sebagai seorang graduan dalam bidang pendidikan muzik dan bagaimana dia menceburkan diri ke bidang seni yang diminatinya ini. Pada masa yang sama, Shaz turut kongsikan pengalaman sepanjang bergelar anak seni dan menceritakan cara-cara dia menangani konflik dan masalah yang dialaminya yang mana dapat memberi inspirasi kepada para remaja masa kini. Podcast yang diilhamkan dari pandangan hidupnya sendiri ini dilihat sebagai satu idea yang segar, dikongsi melalui lensa seorang remaja yang sedang melalui proses pendewasaan.

Siri terbitan Mediacorp yang ditulis oleh Julie Anne ini menjanjikan hiburan serta pengalaman baru untuk pendengar dengan keaslian dan pesona penceritaan Shazreen yang menggambarkan personalitinya.
