BYD Sime Motors, the official distributor of BYD vehicles in Malaysia, proudly marks its third anniversary by celebrating a major milestone—more than 25,000 BYD electric vehicles now on Malaysian roads, firmly positioning BYD as the nation’s No.1 EV brand. Beyond numbers, these vehicles represent over 25,000 Malaysian families who are actively contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future, reflecting the rapid growth of electric mobility across the country.
Collectively, BYD owners in Malaysia help reduce more than 62,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually, an environmental impact equivalent to planting nearly 2.5 million trees every year—enough to encircle Malaysia’s coastline over six times. This achievement highlights BYD Sime Motors’ meaningful role in supporting Malaysia’s sustainability goals while making green mobility more accessible to the masses.
Strengthening its leadership position, BYD Sime Motors currently offers Malaysia’s largest fully electric vehicle portfolio, with seven models launched to date. The lineup is led by the BYD ATTO 3, the volume leader in the highly competitive C-segment SUV category. In 2025, the range expanded further with the introduction of the BYD ATTO 2 and BYD SEAL 6, alongside a refreshed BYD SEAL. From entry-level to premium offerings, and across sedans, SUVs and MPVs, BYD continues to meet the evolving needs of Malaysian drivers through advanced technology, safety and competitive pricing.
Eagle Zhao, Managing Director of BYD Malaysia, shared that surpassing 25,000 owners is a proud and rewarding milestone, reflecting the strong momentum of EV adoption in the country. He reaffirmed BYD’s commitment to delivering a greener, smarter and safer driving experience, while expressing gratitude for the trust Malaysians have placed in the brand as it continues to bring innovative products and technologies to the local market.
Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director of Southeast Asia at Sime Motors, added that in just three years, BYD has become a key pillar of Sime Motors’ automotive portfolio. Backed by a robust sales and aftersales network, advanced facilities and skilled EV talent, BYD Sime Motors has transformed Malaysia’s roads by making electric mobility practical and accessible, with customer ownership experience remaining a top priority.
Supporting its growing customer base, BYD Sime Motors has established an extensive nationwide infrastructure comprising 39 sales and marketing outlets, 24 aftersales service centers, 12 authorized body and paint centers, and a centralized parts warehouse with over 4,600 line items. With a 94% fill rate and more than 1,000 locally trained employees, the network ensures efficient service turnaround and high technical standards across the country.
Looking ahead, BYD and Sime Motors reaffirm their commitment to shaping Malaysia’s EV future through continued network expansion, advanced technology integration and the establishment of local CKD assembly operations by 2026—creating long-term value and employment opportunities. In conjunction with this milestone, customers are encouraged to take advantage of limited-time year-end promotions, with savings of up to RM20,000 on selected BYD models ahead of the conclusion of full tax exemptions on imported EVs.
