Bringing Esports to Campuses: Samsung and MOONTON Games Kick Off MLBB Tournament

Samsung Electronics is taking gaming innovation to the next level with the launch of the Galaxy Gaming Academy Campus Series in partnership with MOONTON Games. This exciting collaboration kicks off with the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) Campus Series (MCS), the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, covering Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, and the Philippines.

As one of the most popular mobile games in the region, MLBB provides student gamers with an unprecedented opportunity to compete on a large-scale stage. Through this partnership, student players will be able to showcase their skills at a regional level while experiencing the cutting-edge power of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, designed for peak gaming performance.

More than just a tournament, the Galaxy Gaming Academy Campus Series serves as a stepping stone for aspiring esports players. Open to students 18 years and older, the competition features national championships across multiple countries. The top teams will then advance to the regional playoffs, leading up to an electrifying grand finale in Indonesia, where the best student teams will battle for the championship title. Through this initiative, Samsung is committed to fostering young esports talent, providing them with a clear pathway to professional gaming careers.

At the heart of this tournament is the Galaxy S25 Ultra, engineered to deliver an elite mobile gaming experience. Equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile Platform for Galaxy, it ensures seamless and lag-free gameplay. The 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display provides ultra-smooth graphics and responsiveness, while the Vulkan Engine optimizes performance for immersive and realistic gaming. An advanced cooling system, featuring a larger vapor chamber and thermal interface material, helps sustain performance during long gaming sessions.

Carl Nordenberg, Vice President and Regional Head of Mobile Experience at Samsung Electronics Southeast Asia & Oceania, emphasized the impact of this initiative, stating that the Galaxy Gaming Academy Campus Series is more than just a tournament—it is a platform for students to develop their skills, gain experience, and build their esports community. He added that for some, this could be the first step toward a professional gaming career. With MLBB’s immense popularity in the region, the partnership with MOONTON Games aims to reach even more young gaming talents across Southeast Asia.

Ray Ng, Head of Ecosystem at MOONTON Games, also expressed excitement about the collaboration, highlighting that this partnership marks a milestone moment for student-focused esports. He stated that working with Samsung to strengthen grassroots esports will create a sustainable pathway for student players within the MLBB ecosystem. As the MLBB Campus Series continues to expand, students can expect more tournaments, activities, and gaming experiences, further immersing them in the world of esports.

To participate in the Galaxy Gaming Academy Campus Series, students must register via Samsung’s Game Portal, a dedicated hub for all gaming-related information, including tournament registration, event details, and real-time updates. This ensures seamless access for both players and viewers across Southeast Asia.

With local qualifiers heating up across multiple countries, the best student teams will battle for a grand final showdown in Indonesia, where the top MLBB student team in Southeast Asia will be crowned. The competition will begin with country qualifiers from April 25 to May 18, 2025, followed by the country finals in mid-May. The regional finals will take place from June 20 to 22, 2025, in Indonesia.

The total prize pool for the tournament is USD 40,000, with the first-place team winning USD 18,000. The second-place team will receive USD 8,000, while the third-place team will be awarded USD 5,000.
