MISHA OMAR MAKES A TRIUMPHANT RETURN WITH “MASIHKAH ADA RASA ITU?” AFTER FOUR-YEAR HIATUS

As a committed singer dedicated to authenticity and high standards in her artistry, Misha Omar carefully chooses songs, aiming for broad resonance and lasting impact. Despite facing a long break, the 42-year-old artist from Kelantan persisted with confidence, trusting that her perseverance would eventually pay off.

After nearly four years without a new single since the release of Tanpa Rela in August 2020, the unveiling of Masihkah Ada Rasa Itu? quelled the anxieties and inquiries of fervent fans eager for fresh material. Set to debut on all music platforms on March 1, 2024, Masihkah Ada Rasa Itu? marks Misha’s collaboration once again with composer Sharon Paul, known for igniting a phenomenon with Sampai Bila six years prior.

“The perfection of a composition isn’t solely reliant on its melody and lyrics; the singer’s interpretation is equally crucial in bringing the song to life,” Misha explains. “As a seasoned artist, I strive to find works that complement and accentuate my strengths and maturity while resonating with contemporary tastes.”

During her hiatus, Misha diligently studied the evolving landscape of pop music, drawing inspiration from diverse sources to create Masihkah Ada Rasa Itu? Alongside Sharon and vocal director Datuk Syafinaz Selamat, Misha sought to infuse fresh nuances into her signature ballad style without forsaking her established identity.

Describing Masihkah Ada Rasa Itu? as a departure from her previous emotionally heavy works like Bunga-Bunga Cinta and Pulangkan, Misha acknowledges the song’s lighter storytelling approach. Nevertheless, she admits that it presents a unique emotional challenge, requiring her to strike a delicate balance in her delivery.

While many anticipate another chart-topping collaboration with Sharon, Misha remains grounded, emphasising that success is ultimately a matter of providence. “Sharon’s compositions possess a special quality that resonates deeply with listeners,” she notes. “But I’ve never pressured her to recreate past successes. Instead, I focus on staying true to the essence of the song.”

Expressing gratitude for the creative freedom afforded by Sharon and Syafinaz, Misha reflects on the palpable nerves she experienced during the recording process. Despite her seasoned experience, stepping into the studio always evoked a sense of anticipation akin to an important examination.

With lyrics crafted by Que Afiq, and borne from a collaboration with esteemed Malaysian recording companies, Sony Music Entertainment Malaysia and Alternate Records Sdn Bhd, Misha reflects on the evolution of her music. Through introspection and collaboration, Misha continues to refine her craft, offering listeners a fresh perspective while maintaining the essence of her musical identity.

Masihkah Ada Rasa Itu? is set to become the theme song for the upcoming drama series “Wanita Syurga,” featuring a star-studded cast including Redza Rosli, Siti Khadijah Halim, Riena Diana, and Nazim Othman. The series will grace the Akasia slot on TV3 and Channel 103, airing at 7pm during Ramadan. Additionally, viewers can catch it on the streaming platform iQIYI at 8pm, an hour after its TV3 broadcast.

The song ‘Masihkah Ada Rasa Itu?’ is available for download on iTunes and can be enjoyed on various music streaming platforms including Apple Music, Deezer, KKBox, Spotify, YouTube, and YouTube Music.
